About the Linguistics Lab

What is our mission?

This site is the portal for connecting researchers and showcasing quantitative or laboratory-based linguistics research at UGA.The goal of the Linguistics Lab is to aid UGA faculty and students in their studies by providing a space, the equipment, and support for the conduct of experimental work and the analysis of linguistic data. Additionally, we hope the space can provide an area that facilitates instructional and class related activities concerning linguistic coursework through the dedicated conference center.

How can we help?

A complete list of the available spaces and equipment can be found on the Facilities tab. All items on the list can be reserved or signed out depending on availability and intended use. Documentation is also available to help with the use of lab equipment and the corpora available to UGA faculty and students.

The Linguistics Lab also aims to offer technical and software support related to the major tools used in laboratory-based work. This includes training in using equipment connected to the lab, and troubleshooting in software such as Praat, R, RStudio, Python, and the Corpus Server. The Graduate Research Assistant in the lab has drop-in hours for technical support, and they can assist you in arranging use and set up of the lab space and equipment.

Thank you for your interest in the Linguistics Lab at UGA, and we look forward to helping you facilitate your research!
